Third Fatima: Secrets, Prophecies, and Hell
The child seers visited the site, as told to do so by the apparition, on the next 13th at noon. The crowds were bigger with each appearance. This was the biggest yet, with men having to guard the children from being trampled and crushed by the crowd. When the apparitian approached, many members of the crowd could see a glowing orb and heard a buzzing sound from it. Lucia announced The Lady has arrived.
The following is taken from “The True Story of Fatima” which recounts witnesses and Ven. Lucia’s memoirs to create its narrative:
"I want you to come back here on the thirteenth of next month," the Lady said. "Continue to say the Rosary every day in honour of Our Lady of the Rosary, to obtain the peace of the world and the end of the war, because only she can obtain it.""Yes," said Lucia, "yes." She was braver now. Love had restored her. In her gladness she wished only to repair the damage of her recent distrust. "I would like to ask who you are," she said to the Lady, "and if you will do a miracle so that everyone will know for certain that you have appeared to us."
"You must come here every month," the Lady said, "and in October I will tell you who I am and what I want. I will then perform a miracle so that all may believe."
Thus assured, Lucia began to place before the Lady the petitions for help that so many had entrusted to her. The Lady said gently that she would cure some, but others she would not cure. "And the crippled son of Maria da Capelinha?" No, the Lady said, neither of his infirmity nor of his poverty would he be cured, and he must be certain to say the Rosary with his family every day. Another case recommended by Lucia to the Lady's assistance was a sick woman from Atougia who asked to be taken to heaven. "Tell her not to be in a hurry," the Lady said. (The tone here is almost like that of any harried mother importuned unreasonably.) "Tell her I know very well when I shall come to fetch her." There is unquestioned sternness here, for at Fatima, time and again, our Lady made it unmistakably clear that she was speaking for a just and hideously wounded Christ, whose patience, if not exhausted by the sins of the world, had known such trial that even the Infinite had wearied. The Blessed Mother confided to Lucia and her cousins still another secret. "Make sacrifices for sinners," she instructed them, "and say often, especially while making a sacrifice: O Jesus, this is for love of Thee, for the conversion of sinners, and in reparation for offences committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary."
As she spoke these words (Lucia tells us in her memoirs), the Lady opened her hands, as she had in the preceding months, but instead of the glory and beauty of God that her opened hands had shown us before, we now were able to behold a sea of fire. Plunged in this flame were devils and souls that looked like transparent embers; others were black or bronze, and in human form; these were suspended in flames which seemed to come from the forms themselves there to remain, without weight or equilibrium, amid cries of pain and despair which horrified us so that we trembled with fear. The devils could be distinguished from the damned human souls by the terrifying forms of weird and unknown animals in which they were cast.
Ti Marto, who was witnessing the actions of the children by the little oak tree in the Cova da Iria that day, recalls that Lucia gasped in sudden horror, that her face was white as death, and that all who were there heard her cry in terror to the Virgin Mother, whom she called by name.
The children were looking at their Lady in terror, speechless, and unable to plead for relief from the scene they had witnessed. Sadly, but kindly now, the Lady told them:
"You have seen hell, where the souls of sinners go. It is to save them that God wants to establish in the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart. If you do what I tell you, many souls will be saved, and there will be peace. This war will end, but if men do not refrain from offending God, another and more terrible war will begin. And when you see a night that is lit by a strange and unknown light, you will know it is the sign God gives you that He is about to punish the world with war and with hunger, and by the persecution of the Church and the Holy Father. To prevent this, I shall come to the world to ask that Russia be consecrated to my Immaculate Heart, and I-shall ask that on the First Saturday of every month Communions of reparation be made in atonement for the sins-of the world.
"If my wishes are fulfilled," the Lady continued, "Russia will be converted and there will be peace; if not, then Russia will spread her errors throughout the world, bringing new wars and persecution of the Church; the good will be martyred and the Holy Father will have much to suffer; certain nations will be annihilated. But in the end my Immaculate Heart will triumph. The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to me, and she will be converted, and the world will enjoy a period of peace. In Portugal the faith will always be preserved. Remember, you must not tell this to anyone except Francisco."
The third apparition was over.
"Is there anything more that you want of me?" Lucia had asked the Lady.
"No, my child; there is nothing more for today."
In the Cova da Iria (Ti Marto recalls), we heard a great clap of thunder. The little arch that had been built to hold two lanterns trembled as though it was an earthquake. Lucia, who had been kneeling, got up very quickly with her skirts ballooning around her. She cried out, "There she goes, there she goes 16" Then after a moment she quieted. "Now you can't see her any more," Lucia said. It was to me a great proof.
Now in the Cova the people crowded closer and closer to the children.
"When you were so frightened and sad, Lucia—what had the Lady said to you?"
"It is a secret," she said truthfully.
"Is it a nice one?"
Lucia reflected, "For some people, yes," she said. "For others, no."
"Can't you tell us what it is?"
"No, I could not. I could not possibly."
Something that comes up often enough in these Marian apparitions are planets in Cancer and Virgo. In this chart, we have the Ascendant in Virgo and Sun in Cancer. Obviously, Virgo is “The Virgin,” Mary’s own sign. Sun in Cancer shows someone emotionally sensitive, which is what we get in these events where Mary laments her pain and the lost souls and suffering of Jesus. This Sun is conjunct Mercury. Communications.
The planets are all on the Eastern half of the chart with Uranus off by itself on the otherside of the chart, forming a sling formation chart. The planet by itself on such a chart shows it is important. Uranus is the planet of the strange, unusual, and sudden events. It also governs lighting and thunder and electricity. It aspects Mars in a trine on this chart and is its only aspect on the chart (other than quincunxes). Mars makes its own aspects in House 12 that will be shown.
The Moon (also an image of Virgin Mary) squares Venus: “Seeing a woman.” Saturn, Neptune, and Venus are in House 12. Secrets.
The above narrative is not the full story of this apparition. Ven. Lucia had not yet revealed all that The Virgin had shown her that July 13th. There was one more vision that Ven. Lucia only revealed via letter to the Pope and was not revealed until 2000 when St. Pope John Paul 2 decided to release it:
The third part of the secret revealed at the Cova da Iria-Fatima, on 13 July 1917.
I write in obedience to you, my God, who command me to do so through his Excellency the Bishop of Leiria and through your Most Holy Mother and mine.
After the two parts which I have already explained, at the left of Our Lady and a little above, we saw an Angel with a flaming sword in his left hand; flashing, it gave out flames that looked as though they would set the world on fire; but they died out in contact with the splendour that Our Lady radiated towards him from her right hand: pointing to the earth with his right hand, the Angel cried out in a loud voice: 'Penance, Penance, Penance!'. And we saw in an immense light that is God: 'something similar to how people appear in a mirror when they pass in front of it' a Bishop dressed in White 'we had the impression that it was the Holy Father'. Other Bishops, Priests, men and women Religious going up a steep mountain, at the top of which there was a big Cross of rough-hewn trunks as of a cork-tree with the bark; before reaching there the Holy Father passed through a big city half in ruins and half trembling with halting step, afflicted with pain and sorrow, he prayed for the souls of the corpses he met on his way; having reached the top of the mountain, on his knees at the foot of the big Cross he was killed by a group of soldiers who fired bullets and arrows at him, and in the same way there died one after another the other Bishops, Priests, men and women Religious, and various lay people of different ranks and positions. Beneath the two arms of the Cross there were two Angels each with a crystal aspersorium in his hand, in which they gathered up the blood of the Martyrs and with it sprinkled the souls that were making their way to God.
The vision of Hell also was not originally revealed, either. Nor was the prophecy of the Second World War. The prophecy of WW2 and the visions of hell were not revealed until the ‘40s when Bishops asked her to reveal what The Virgin told her and she felt comfortable doing so. Before then, no matter who asked, she obeyed the Apparition’s command to not reveal the visions. Thus, these three visions were called “The Secrets of Fatima.”
So, it is appropriate that the planet of visions, Neptune, is in House 12 for secrets. And Neptune is conjunct Saturn. Saturn is the planet of secrets. Neptune then aspects Mars: “Secret [Saturn] visions [Neptune] of war and violence and fire [Mars].” The conjunction of Neptune and Saturn aspecting Mars thus shows these visions of war, assassination, and Hell. Neptune also aspects Jupiter, which as stated before represents virginity. “Visions of a virgin” or “Secret [Saturn] visions of a virgin.”
I will briefly cover the seers charts. All three have planet and angle action going on. And most have Uranus aspects for “sudden appearance” and the unusual. Ven. Lucia has the Ascendant and Vertex on her Moon and the nodal axis on her Uranus/Neptune opposition. These show the visions and apparition. Venus [Lady] is on her Medium Caeli, and transit Uranus is on her Venus: “Sudden appearance of a lady.”
Transit Ascendant and Vertex axis on her Sun and Moon, marking an important event for her. She then has Sun and Mercury on her Neptune and oppose her Uranus; and Uranus on her Mercury: Sudden visions and communications. The Moon squares her Venus, and sextiles her Neptune: “Visions of a woman.”
Francisco has angle and node conjuncts, as the above do, showing an important event. The most telling aspect is the Sun/Mercury conjunct on top of his Venus: “An immortal woman communicating.”
The next article will cover the seers’ jailing and absence from the next apparitian as well as when Mary appeared to them off schedule and place.
